Japan Trip

Thursday, July 29th, 2004

I had some cool math blogging I wanted to do, but it appears I’ve run out of time. I fly to Japan in a few hours for some vacation, and I’m just too tired to really blog straight. So here are some random blurbs.

First, let’s check out the weather report for Japan:

Yes, that does indeed look like a typhoon.

Random Thought:
Objective-C++ is a messed up language. Not that it doesn’t serve a purpose; its a great glue language. But C++ is screwy enough without the addition of Objective C types on top. For some reason, something inside me would love to see this on the CLR. I’m not sure what I wouldn’t love to see on the CLR though. Still waiting for IronPython.

And in the process of finding that last link, I see the code has been released a few hours ago. I have to resist the urge to play with it before the plane ride. And the author, Jim Hugunin, has taken the red pill. Cool!

I’ve been reading the blog of Bram Cohen, of BitTorrent fame. Smart cookie. Check him out.

Books I’m bringing for the plane ride:
Return of the King
Dune
ANSI Common LISP

Yes, ANSI Common LISP. I’m a geek. Leave me alone.

Back in a few weeks.
